About Padre’s Place: Our Story & Mission

"He brought them out of darkness, the utter darkness, and broke away their chains." — Psalm 107:14
Padres Place was created to provide a clear, structured, and honest approach to recovery. We believe recovery is not achieved through information alone—it requires consistent action, personal responsibility, and a willingness to change.
Our Vision
At Padre’s Place Recovery, we believe that addiction is not just a physical or mental struggle—it is a spiritual one. For years, the traditional recovery world has focused on "managing" symptoms. We believe in Total Transformation through the power of Jesus Christ and the proven framework of the 12 Steps.
Spiritual Perspective
Our program is grounded in principles that align with long-standing spiritual truths.
While we respect individual beliefs, we encourage participants to explore spiritual growth as part of their recovery journey
  • Action-based, not lecture-based
  • Writing-focused for deeper clarity
  • Structured daily process
  • Emphasis on accountability
Our Philosophy
  • Change happens through action
  • Honesty creates freedom
  • Accountability builds progress
  • Consistency leads to transformation

Our Leadership

"Our team consists of people who have been where you are. We don't just teach the steps; we live them. Our credentials are found in the lives we’ve seen restored by the grace of God."

House Manager
My struggle with addiction began at the age of twenty. After experiencing many failures and disappointments, and going through three rehabs, I finally checked into my last facility at the age of fifty. I took my first steps toward recovery on February 28th, 2022. Three months into the program, I was asked to become the intake coordinator, a role I served in until I graduated at the six-month mark. I was then the medication coordinator and joined the staff. During my time there, I completed the 12 steps of AA with my sponsor. After 14 months, I left and moved to San Antonio to make amends with my family and children. Two years later, I have been given the incredible opportunity to be a part of Padre's Place here in Athens, TX.

Take Control of Your Future

"Transforming lives from the inside out by uniting the proven 12-Step process with the redemptive power of the Gospel."

In a secular program, the "Higher Power" is left to the individual's interpretation. In our program, we identify the Higher Power specifically as Jesus Christ. While we use the same 12-step framework, every step is anchored in Scripture, focusing not just on sobriety, but on a restored relationship with God.

No. We welcome anyone who is struggling and looking for a way out. All we ask is that you come with an open heart and a willingness to explore what the Bible says about addiction and recovery. You don't need to "have it all figured out" to start Step 1.

Addiction thrives in isolation and delay. By moving through the first five steps in 30 days, we help you "clear the wreckage" of the past quickly so you can experience the weight being lifted. This intensive phase creates the spiritual momentum needed for long-term transformation.

We focus on the spiritual and emotional roots of addiction. If you require medical detoxification or 24/7 clinical supervision for withdrawal, we recommend completing that first. Our program is the "Heart-Work" phase that ensures once you are physically clean, you have the spiritual foundation to stay that way.

Many people find that secular steps felt like "homework" or "willpower." When you add the power of the Holy Spirit and the accountability of a faith-based community, the steps change from a self-help tool to a life-giving encounter with God.

Absolutely. While we emphasize "Confession" in Step 5, we adhere to strict confidentiality standards. Your inventory is shared only with a trusted, trained mentor of your choosing, and your personal story remains your own.

Yes. During Week 2, we help you identify a "Step Guide"—someone further along in their walk with Christ who can hear your Step 5 inventory and provide biblical encouragement and accountability.
